What transportation will be available?

We plan to provide bus transportation for 50% of our student population and may increase the number of routes depending on demand. When you apply or communicate with the school, please communicate your need for transportation so that we can plan our routes accordingly.

Does Aventura offer Special Education (SPED)  services like other MNPS schools?

As a public school, any student who receives support or services as indicated by an Individual Education Program (IEP) also receives these services at Aventura. Aventura works with MNPS to identify students who may need an IEP that do not currently have one. Aventura has a dedicated SPED teacher for every 2-3 grade levels and contracts service providers for speech, OT, and other services as needed to serve our students.

What is the class size and student-teacher ratio at Aventura?

Elementary classrooms at Aventura have 28-30 students with two licensed teachers per class. The student to teacher ratio is a maximum of 15:1.

Does Aventura have uniforms or a dress code?

There is no formal uniform for Aventura students and you can find the dress code policy in the Community Handbook. We have Aventura apparel available for purchase for families who would like to have that option when planning what to wear to school.

Do Aventura students have homework?

While we hope that the projects and work that students are doing every day at school excite students and they bring their learnings home to their family, in the early grades Aventura will not have nightly worksheets or homework assignments. Students are encouraged to read at home with their families in both Spanish and English and make connections to what they are learning about at school with the world around them.
