Aventura's Middle School

All kids are born with passions and interests, and middle school is where students begin to take greater ownership of who they are becoming.

At Aventura, middle school is designed to meet students at this moment. Students deepen what they care about, pursue what makes them curious, and discover how they can use what they are learning to understand and shape the world around them.

Aventura Community School combines strong academics, bilingual learning, real-world projects, and opportunities for students to explore their interests in a diverse community.

What if middle school was treated as its own important stage, not just a bridge between elementary and high school?

Adolescence is one of the most significant periods of growth and brain development. It is a time when students begin asking bigger questions, discovering new interests, and taking greater ownership of who they are becoming. It’s a moment of heightened potential for learning, connection, and exploration.

At Aventura, we embrace this stage by giving students room to explore their interests while building strong foundations in humanities, math, and STEM. And they do it all within a bilingual community that expands how they communicate, connect, and understand the world around them.

They don't just learn more.

They begin exploring where they are curious and where they want to go deeper.

A school day built for learning, exploring, and growing.

CONNECT

Start the day together with teachers and classmates.

LEARN

Build strong foundations through humanities and math/STEM.

INVESTIGATE

CONTRIBUTE

Aventura is a bilingual community where English and Spanish are more than academic subjects; they're ways students communicate, build relationships, and experience their world.

Find Your Path: What are you into?

Middle school is a time to try things, discover new interests, and find the things that make you want to learn more. Through our Investigate the World seminars, Aventura students explore four pathways:

ARTS & COMMUNICATION

What do you have to say and how will you say it?

Explore art, storytelling, public art, communication, and opportunities to develop skills in areas such as digital media and purposeful content creation.

Explore. Choose. Go deeper.

5th-6th Grade

EXPLORE

Students rotate through all four pathways, experiencing a different seminar each quarter. This provide a unique opportunity to explore topics not typically included in a middle school curriculum.

7th - 8th Grade

CHOOSE

As students grow, they can continue exploring all four pathways or begin concentrating on the areas that interest them most. Students have the option to focus on only two pathways for a longer period of time.

High School & Beyond

PREPARE

Pathways become more focused as students progress through middle school, helping them connect their interests with opportunities they may like to pursue in high school, college,  and beyond.

Strong Academics. Important Ideas. Significant Impact.

Aventura students build strong academic skills by exploring ideas worth talking about. Through EL Education's project-based literacy curriculum, middle schoolers strengthen reading, writing, research, and communication while diving into topics like Greek mythology, innovation and invention, the Harlem Renaissance, the Space Race, global water issues, and plastic pollution. Students read real books about these subjects, and they also research questions, develop arguments, create presentations, produce podcasts and documentaries, and use what they've learned in meaningful ways.

In math, students build strong conceptual understanding through the Eureka Math² curriculum. Students go beyond memorizing formulas and procedures to understand how and why math works. Concepts intentionally build from one lesson and grade to the next, helping students make connections, develop fluency, and confidently tackle increasingly complex problems. Students are encouraged to talk about their mathematical thinking, explore different strategies, work through challenging problems, and apply what they know in new ways. With materials available in both English and Spanish, Eureka Math² gives Aventura students a strong mathematical foundation while helping them become confident, flexible problem-solvers.

It's an academic foundation designed not just to help students know more, but to help them think, question, communicate, and apply what they know.

Learn in a community that looks like the world.

Middle schoolers are figuring out where they fit in the world. At Aventura, they do that while learning alongside students and educators from different languages, cultures, backgrounds, and experiences.

More Ways to Discover What You Love through Sports and Enrichments!

Learning at Aventura extends beyond academic instruction. Middle school enrichment will give students opportunities to create, perform, move, compete, and explore through visual arts, performing arts, PE and athletic development, and Language Lab where students will have a chance to explore a third global language.

Students will also have opportunities to participate in organized sports including cross country, soccer, basketball, and volleyball, with additional offerings growing alongside our middle school program. Whether they discover a love for the stage, another language, a new sport, or simply something they’ve never tried before, middle school is a time to explore what makes you come alive.

  • Seek opportunities to create, explore, lead, or make things.

  • Would benefit from learning alongside people with different experiences and perspectives.
